Dr James Walter is a compassionate General Practitioner committed to providing inclusive, holistic, and patient-centred care.
He graduated in 2010 from the University of Edinburgh, UK, and subsequently trained in London, where his involvement in the LGBTQIA+ community shaped his dedication to equitable healthcare. During this time, he gained early clinical experience in sexual health and HIV medicine at a busy East London clinic, developing a strong understanding of the health needs within the community.
Since relocating to Sydney in 2019, James has become a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and an accredited HIV S100 prescriber. He has also undertaken advanced training in Gender Affirming Care through ASHM. He supervises medical students from the University of New South Wales and the University of Notre Dame, reflecting his commitment to mentoring the next generation of doctors.
James’s clinical interests include mental health, men’s health, and sexual health, including HIV treatment and prevention. With a holistic approach, James fosters a calm and inclusive space where patients feel respected, understood, and supported to make informed choices about their health.
Beyond his clinical work, James finds balance through travelling, hiking and beach days, as well as staying active through the gym and reformer Pilates. He enjoys painting and values quality time with friends and in nature, which strengthen his sense of connection and wellbeing.
