Dr Palmyra De Banks is an experienced General Practitioner with more than 22 years of clinical practice across Australia and the United Kingdom. A graduate of the University of London and a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP), she is committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based healthcare that is tailored to each patient’s individual needs.

Dr De Banks has a longstanding commitment to inclusive healthcare and is passionate about supporting LGBTIQA+ patients in accessing safe, affirming, and comprehensive medical care. She is an experienced PrEP and PEP prescriber and is currently completing her HIV S100 Prescriber accreditation and Hepatitis B S100 training, further strengthening her expertise in HIV prevention, treatment, and sexual health.

In addition to her work in sexual health, Dr De Banks has extensive experience in women’s health, including maternity and shared care, contraception, and Mirena® insertions and removals. She also enjoys consulting in family medicine, travel health, and WorkSafe and TAC matters, providing holistic care to patients across all stages of life.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr De Banks holds a Master of Laws from the University of Melbourne and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Her diverse professional background reflects a strong commitment to healthcare leadership, advocacy, and improving equitable access to quality healthcare.

Dr De Banks believes that every patient deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and understanding. She was drawn to Equality Health because it reflects the values that have guided her career for more than two decades. She understands the barriers many LGBTIQA+ people have experienced when seeking healthcare and is dedicated to creating a welcoming, culturally safe environment where patients feel comfortable, respected, and empowered to take charge of their health.
